Hearing God’s Voice
Lesson 17: Hearing God’s Voice
Key Scriptures: John 10:27, Isaiah 30:21
Teaching Points:
- Learning to Hear His Voice
- “God speaks through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and wise counsel.”
- God is always speaking—through His Word, through the quiet prompting of the Holy Spirit, and through the wisdom of trusted, godly people. The question isn’t whether He is speaking, but whether we are listening. Sometimes His voice comes clearly through Scripture; other times it’s a gentle nudge in your spirit or confirmation through someone else.
- “His voice aligns with His Word.”
- God will never contradict Himself. Anything He speaks will always agree with what is written in Scripture. This is our anchor. When we’re unsure, we can return to His Word and find clarity. His voice brings peace, truth, and direction—not confusion or contradiction.
- “Learning to listen takes practice and sensitivity.”
- Hearing God’s voice isn’t always instant—it’s something we grow into. It requires stillness, patience, and a heart that is willing to respond. As you spend time with Him, you begin to recognize His voice more clearly. Like any relationship, it deepens with time and attention.
- Today, slow down and create space to listen. God is speaking—lean in and hear Him.
- Reflection:
- What distractions might be keeping you from hearing God clearly?
- Prayer:
- Lord, teach me to recognize Your voice. Quiet the noise around me and within me so I can hear You clearly. Help me to trust Your Word and grow in sensitivity to Your leading. Amen.
Discussion Questions:
- How do you recognize God’s voice?
- What distractions keep you from hearing Him?
Practical Application:
- Spend 5 minutes in silence before God daily
- Write down what you sense God is speaking
