Repentance and Forgiveness
Lesson 15: Repentance and Forgiveness
Key Scriptures: 1 John 1:9, Acts 3:19, Psalm 51:10
Teaching Points:
- Devotional: The Gift of Forgiveness
- Scripture:
- “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” — Bible (1 John 1:9)
- Repentance is more than saying “I’m sorry.” It’s a turning—away from sin and back toward God. It’s a decision of the heart to leave behind what separates us from Him and to walk in a new direction.
- The beautiful truth is that God doesn’t hesitate when we come to Him. He is faithful to forgive every time we genuinely confess. Not because we deserve it, but because of His grace and love.
- And that forgiveness does something powerful—it restores. Sin creates distance, but forgiveness brings us close again. It renews our relationship with God and reminds us that we are never beyond His reach.
- No matter how far you feel you’ve wandered, you can turn back today. God is ready to forgive, restore, and walk with you again.
- Reflection:
- Is there anything you need to turn away from and bring honestly before God today?
- Prayer:
- Lord, thank You for Your mercy and grace. Help me to truly turn from sin and walk toward You. Thank You for being faithful to forgive and for restoring my relationship with You. Amen.
Discussion Questions:
- What is the difference between regret and true repentance?
- Why is confession important?
Practical Application:
- Ask God to reveal anything you need to surrender
- Practice daily confession and receiving His forgiveness
