The Word of God Changes Us<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.\u201d
\u2014 2 Timothy 3:16<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bible is not merely a collection of religious writings or human opinions about God. Scripture is inspired by God and therefore possesses divine authority.<\/strong> When we read the Bible, we are not simply receiving suggestions for better living. We are hearing the Word of the God who created us and knows us perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because Scripture comes from God, it is also sufficient to equip believers for faithful living.<\/strong> Paul says that Scripture makes the believer \u201ccomplete, thoroughly equipped for every good work\u201d (2 Timothy 3:17). We may use many helpful resources in life, but none of them can replace God’s Word as our ultimate authority for faith and godly living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most important functions of Scripture is that it corrects our thinking rather than merely confirming our opinions.<\/strong> We naturally tend to interpret life according to what we already believe. We may look for verses that support our preferences while ignoring passages that challenge us. But God’s Word does not exist to agree with us. It exists to bring our thinking into agreement with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scripture also exposes motives that even we may not recognize.<\/strong> Hebrews 4:12 says that God’s Word is \u201ca discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.\u201d The Bible can reveal attitudes, desires, fears, pride, and selfish motives that we have successfully hidden\u2014even from ourselves. When God’s Word exposes something in us, that is not meant to destroy us but to lead us toward repentance and transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, Christian maturity requires submission to biblical truth.<\/strong> Growing spiritually is not simply learning more Bible verses. It means allowing God’s Word to correct our beliefs, confront our attitudes, change our priorities, and direct our actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question is not merely, \u201cWhat does the Bible say?\u201d<\/em> The deeper question is, \u201cAm I willing to submit to what the Bible says?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
