Lesson 66: Serving with Humility
Key Scriptures: Mark 10:45, Philippians 2:3–4
Teaching Points:
Servant Leadership
Scripture: “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45 (KJV)
Jesus demonstrated true leadership by serving others. Though He was the Son of God, He humbled Himself to meet the needs of people, heal the hurting, teach the truth, and ultimately give His life on the cross. His example shows that leadership in God’s kingdom is not about power or status but about sacrificial service.
Serving others reflects a heart of humility and love. When we put the needs of others before our own, we follow the pattern Christ established. Acts of kindness, encouragement, generosity, and compassion become opportunities to display the love of God in practical ways.
The world often measures greatness by wealth, influence, or achievement. Jesus taught a different standard. He said that whoever desires to be great must become a servant. In God’s kingdom, greatness is found not in being served but in serving others faithfully and selflessly.
Reflection Questions:
- How did Jesus model servant leadership in His life and ministry?
- What opportunities do you have today to serve someone in love?
- How does God’s definition of greatness differ from the world’s?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Jesus, who came to serve and not to be served. Teach me to walk in humility, love others sincerely, and look for opportunities to serve. Help me to reflect Christ in my actions and to seek greatness through faithful service. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
