Lesson 78: The Power of a Godly Example
Key Scriptures: 1 Timothy 4:12, Matthew 5:16
Teaching Points:
Your Life Speaks
Key Verse:
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16
People are constantly learning by watching others. Children watch their parents. New employees watch experienced coworkers. Friends observe how we respond to stress, success, disappointment, and conflict. Whether we realize it or not, our lives are teaching something every day.
Character is more than what we say—it is who we are when no one is watching. Integrity, kindness, patience, humility, and honesty leave a lasting impression on those around us. Our attitudes and actions can encourage others to make wise choices or, unfortunately, lead them in the wrong direction. This is why developing Christlike character matters so much.
As followers of Jesus, our greatest opportunity is to point others to Him through the example we live. While no one is perfect, a life marked by genuine faith, love, forgiveness, and obedience reflects the heart of Christ. People may not immediately read the Bible, but they will often “read” our lives. When they see God’s grace at work in us, they can be drawn to the Savior who is changing us.
Today, consider what your life is communicating. Is your example helping others see Jesus? Every conversation, decision, and act of kindness can become an opportunity to shine His light.

Heavenly Father, thank You for placing people in my life who watch and learn from my example. Help me develop Christlike character in my words, attitudes, and actions.
