Growing Godly Fruit

Lesson 35: Growing Godly Fruit Through Good Works

Key Scriptures: Galatians 5:22-23, Matthew 5:16, Ephesians 2:10

Teaching Points:

Title: A Life That Reflects Him

Scripture Focus: “By their fruit you will recognize them.” — Matthew 7:16

Devotional:
When God works in a person’s heart, it doesn’t stay hidden—it shows. The fruit of the Spirit is more than a list of virtues; it’s the character of Christ being formed in us. Love, joy, peace, patience—these are signs that God is actively shaping who we are from the inside out.

Good works aren’t something we force to prove ourselves. They naturally flow from a life that has been changed. As we grow closer to God, our desires begin to align with His, and doing what is right becomes a reflection of who we are becoming.

The apostle Paul the Apostle reminds us that we are created in Christ Jesus for good works—works that God prepared in advance for us to do. That means your life has purpose. Every act of kindness, every moment of obedience, every choice to love others is part of something bigger: bringing glory to God.

Ultimately, our lives are meant to point others to Jesus. Not by perfection, but by direction. When people see genuine love, humility, and grace in us, they catch a glimpse of Him. Our lives become a testimony that draws others closer to the One who changes everything.

Reflection Questions:

  • What fruit of the Spirit is most evident in my life right now?
  • In what ways are my actions reflecting a transformed heart?
  • How can my life more clearly point others to Jesus?

Prayer:
Lord, let Your character be formed in me. Help my life produce fruit that reflects who You are. Guide my actions so they bring You glory and draw others to You. Use my life as a light that points to Jesus. Amen.

Discussion Questions:

  • Which fruit of the Spirit do you see growing in your life?

  • In what ways can your life shine for others?

Practical Application:

  • Choose one fruit of the Spirit to focus on this week.
