Lesson 76: Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Key Scriptures: Galatians 6:2, Romans 12:15
Teaching Points:
A Devotion on Caring for One Another
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
God never intended for the Christian life to be lived in isolation. From the beginning, believers have been called to care for one another with genuine love, encouragement, and practical service. Whether someone is rejoicing or struggling, we are to walk alongside them, sharing both their joys and their burdens. In doing so, we demonstrate the unity that Christ desires for His church.
Compassion reflects Christ’s love. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus consistently showed mercy to the hurting, the lonely, the sick, and the broken. He saw people with eyes of compassion and responded with kindness and grace. As His followers, we are called to reflect that same heart. Compassion is more than feeling sympathy—it is love expressed through action. A kind word, a helping hand, a listening ear, or a faithful prayer can become powerful reminders of God’s love.
As we care for one another, we grow stronger together. Every believer has gifts and experiences that can encourage others. When we support one another in faith, the entire body of Christ is strengthened. The church becomes a place where burdens are shared, faith is nurtured, and God’s love is made visible to the world.
May we never overlook the opportunities God gives us each day to care for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Reflection Questions:
Who in my church or community may need encouragement today?
How can I show Christ’s compassion through my words and actions?
Am I allowing others to encourage and strengthen me as well?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for placing me in the family of God. Help me to care for others with the compassion that Christ has shown me. Open my eyes to those who need encouragement, and give me a willing heart to serve. May our love for one another strengthen Your church and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
