Lesson 61: Wisdom and Godly Decision-Making
Key Scriptures: James 1:5, Proverbs 3:13
Teaching Points:
Seeking God’s Wisdom
Key Verse:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.” — James 1:5
Devotional Thought
One of God’s gracious promises is that He gives wisdom to those who seek Him. Life presents us with many decisions, challenges, and uncertainties, but God does not leave His children to navigate them alone. When we come to Him in prayer, study His Word, and desire His guidance, He delights to provide the wisdom we need.
However, wisdom is more than simply making good choices. True wisdom is making decisions that align with God’s revealed truth. The world often measures wisdom by success, popularity, or personal gain, but God’s wisdom is measured by obedience to His Word. A decision may seem practical or beneficial, yet if it contradicts Scripture, it is not truly wise. God’s Word serves as the foundation upon which wise decisions are built.
Spiritual wisdom also requires humility and patience. Humility acknowledges that we do not have all the answers and that God’s ways are higher than our own. Patience allows us to wait for His timing rather than rushing ahead based on our own understanding. Often, God develops wisdom in us not only through answers He gives but also through the waiting process itself.
As we seek God daily, submit our decisions to Scripture, and walk humbly before Him, He shapes us into people who reflect His wisdom in every area of life.
