Lesson 75: The Ministry of Encouragement

Key Scriptures: Hebrews 10:24–25, 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Teaching Points:

Encouraging One Another

Scripture: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

One of the greatest gifts we can give another believer is encouragement. The Christian life is often filled with challenges, discouragement, and spiritual battles. A timely word of kindness, a sincere prayer, or a reminder of God’s promises can strengthen a weary heart and help someone continue faithfully in their walk with Christ.

The Bible reminds us that our words carry great power. They can either build others up or tear them down. Careless criticism, gossip, and harsh speech leave wounds, while gracious and truthful words bring hope, comfort, and renewed strength. As followers of Christ, we should ask ourselves each day, “Will my words help someone grow closer to the Lord?”

God does not reserve this ministry for pastors or church leaders. He delights in using ordinary believers to encourage one another. A phone call, a handwritten note, a visit, or simply taking the time to listen can become a means by which God ministers His grace to another person.

Today, ask the Lord to make you an encourager. You never know how much your words may strengthen someone who desperately needs to be reminded of God’s love and faithfulness.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the people You have used to encourage me. Help me to use my words to build others up rather than tear them down. Show me someone today who needs encouragement, and give me the wisdom and compassion to strengthen them for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
