Lesson 72: Seeking First the Kingdom

Key Scriptures: Matthew 6:33, Romans 14:17

Teaching Points:

Seeking First God’s Kingdom

Scripture: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33

Life is filled with many responsibilities and concerns. We think about our families, finances, health, careers, and future. While these things are important, Jesus taught that God’s Kingdom must be our highest priority. Our first desire should be to know God, obey Him, and advance His purposes in the world.

Kingdom values often differ from worldly values. The world encourages self-promotion, wealth, power, and personal success. God’s Kingdom, however, values humility, service, generosity, holiness, and faithfulness. What the world often considers weakness, God may call strength. As followers of Christ, we are called to live according to God’s standards rather than the changing values of society.

Jesus also assures us that God provides for those who seek Him first. This does not mean believers will never face difficulties, but it does mean that our heavenly Father knows our needs and faithfully cares for His children. When we place God’s Kingdom first, we can trust Him with the details of our lives.

Today, examine your priorities. Are you seeking God’s Kingdom above everything else? Ask the Lord to help you align your heart with His purposes and trust Him to provide for your needs.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to seek Your Kingdom above all else. Teach me to value what You value and to trust You to provide for my needs. May my life reflect Your priorities and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
