Lesson 73: Stewardship of Time

Key Scriptures: Ephesians 5:15–16, Psalm 90:12

Teaching Points:

Redeeming the Gift of Time

Scripture: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15–16)

Time is one of God’s greatest gifts. Unlike money or possessions, once time is spent, it can never be recovered. Every day the Lord places twenty-four hours into our hands, giving us opportunities to glorify Him, serve others, and grow in our faith. Since time belongs to God, we are called to be faithful stewards of it.

Wise stewardship requires intentional living. It is easy to let life be controlled by distractions, entertainment, or the urgent demands of the day. But God’s Word calls us to live purposefully. Rather than drifting through each day, believers should ask, “Lord, how would You have me use the time You have given me today?” Intentional living means planning our days around God’s priorities instead of fitting Him into whatever time remains.

Our priorities always reveal our values. We may say that God, family, or ministry are important, but our schedules often tell the true story. Where we consistently invest our time is where our hearts truly are. When Christ is our greatest treasure, we will make time for prayer, Bible study, worship, serving others, and sharing the gospel. The wise believer understands that every moment is an opportunity to honor the Lord.

May we remember that each day is a gift from God. Let us use it wisely, live intentionally, and allow our priorities to demonstrate that Christ is first in our lives.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Am I using my time as though it belongs to God?
  2. What activities consume most of my day, and what do they reveal about my priorities?
  3. What intentional change can I make this week to invest more of my time in what has eternal value?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of time. Forgive me for the moments I have wasted or used selfishly. Help me to live intentionally, making the most of every opportunity to glorify You. May my priorities reflect that You are first in my life, and may I use each day as a faithful steward of the time You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Discussion Questions:

  • How do you currently spend your time?
  • What time-wasters hinder spiritual growth?
  • How can you better invest your days?
