Seeking God’s Wisdom for Daily Life

Devotion
Everyone needs wisdom. Every day we face choices, challenges, and situations that require more than human understanding. We need God’s wisdom to know what is right, what is pleasing to Him, and how to live in a way that honors Him.
Wisdom is more than having knowledge or experience. Wisdom is the ability to apply God’s truth to daily life. A person may know many facts, but true wisdom comes from understanding God’s Word and putting it into practice. Wisdom helps us respond with patience instead of anger, choose obedience instead of temptation, and trust God instead of relying only on ourselves.
God does not hide wisdom from His children. He promises to give wisdom to those who ask in faith. James tells us that if we lack wisdom, we should ask God, because He gives generously. However, we must approach Him with a heart that trusts Him. God’s wisdom is not something we earn; it is a gift He gladly provides to those who seek Him.
In a world where decisions are often based on feelings, opinions, or popular ideas, believers are called to something higher. Wise decisions are guided by Scripture rather than emotions alone. Our feelings can change, and our understanding can be limited, but God’s Word remains true and trustworthy. When our choices are shaped by Scripture, we are building our lives on a foundation that will stand.
Before making decisions, we should ask:
- What does God’s Word teach about this?
- Does this choice honor Christ?
- Am I seeking God’s will or simply following my own desires?
A wise person is not someone who never makes mistakes, but someone who continually seeks God’s direction and submits to His truth.
Prayer
Lord, give me wisdom to see life from Your perspective. Help me not to depend only on my feelings or my own understanding, but to seek Your truth in Your Word. Teach me to make choices that honor You and reflect Your will. Thank You for promising to give wisdom generously when I ask in faith. Amen.
