Remembering God’s Faithfulness

Scripture: Psalm 77:11–12

“I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.”

God’s Faithfulness Never Changes

Our circumstances change, our feelings change, and people may disappoint us. But God’s faithfulness never changes. What God has promised, He is able to fulfill.

Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning and that His faithfulness is great. We can trust God today because He has always been faithful.

Looking Back Strengthens Present Faith

When we face a difficult situation, it is easy to focus only on what is happening right now. But looking back at God’s faithfulness can remind us that He has helped us before.

Think about the times God answered your prayers, provided when you had a need, gave you strength during a difficult season, or opened a door when you could not see a way forward.

Remembering those moments gives us confidence that the God who was faithful yesterday is still faithful today.

Past Victories Encourage Future Trust

David faced Goliath with confidence because he remembered how God had already delivered him from the lion and the bear (1 Samuel 17:34–37).

David’s past experiences with God did not mean he would never face another difficulty. Instead, they gave him confidence to face the next one.

Our past victories should not cause us to trust in ourselves. They should cause us to trust the God who gave us those victories.

Application

Take a few moments today to remember God’s faithfulness in your life.

• What prayer has God answered?
• What difficult situation has God brought you through?
• When has God provided for you when you did not know what to do?
• How can remembering God’s faithfulness help you trust Him with today’s circumstances?

Remember: The God who was faithful in the past has not changed. His faithfulness gives us reason to trust Him with the future.

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your unfailing faithfulness. Help me to remember the many ways You have worked in my life. When I face difficulties, keep me from forgetting what You have already done. Let the victories and answered prayers of the past strengthen my faith today and give me confidence to trust You with tomorrow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
