Prayer and Communication with God

Lesson 3: Prayer and Communication with God

Key Scriptures: Matthew 6:9-13, Philippians 4:6-7, Luke 11:9-13

Teaching Points:

  • Prayer is more than words—it is a conversation with God, a time to talk and listen. In these moments, we invite His presence into our hearts and open ourselves to His guidance.
  • God’s Holy Spirit is our teacher, guide, comforter, and voice of conviction. When we pay attention, He gently shows us the right path, reassures us in struggles, and convicts us when we drift from God’s ways.
  • We are invited to bring everything to Him—our needs, concerns, fears, and praises. Nothing is too small or too great for God to hear. As we yield to Him in prayer and daily life, the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—begins to grow in us.
  • Reflection 🙏
  • Am I taking time to truly listen to God in prayer, not just speak? How can I yield more fully to the Holy Spirit so that His fruit can shape my life today?

Discussion Questions:

  • How do you currently experience prayer and the Holy Spirit?
  • Which fruit of the Spirit do you want to grow in most?

Practical Application:

Practice both speaking to God and listening quietly.

Keep a daily prayer journal.

Set aside 5–10 minutes daily for prayer.

Focus on one fruit of the Spirit each day and ask God to cultivate it.
