Lesson 100: Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant

Key Scriptures: Matthew 25:21, Philippians 1:6

Teaching Points

Faithful Until He Comes

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2

We live in a world that places great value on fame, recognition, and success. People want to be noticed. They want their accomplishments to be recognized and their names remembered. Even in Christian service, it can be easy to measure ourselves by how many people hear us, how successful our ministry appears, or how much influence we have.

But God’s desire is faithfulness, not fame.

God does not require us to become famous. He calls us to be faithful. A person who quietly serves Christ, loves his family, encourages others, gives generously, and remains faithful in difficult circumstances may never receive public recognition. Yet that person’s faithfulness is precious to God.

Every Believer Will Give an Account of Stewardship

Everything we have ultimately belongs to God—our time, abilities, finances, opportunities, relationships, and spiritual gifts. We are stewards, not owners.

Jesus taught that one day we will give an account for how we have used what He entrusted to us. The question will not simply be, “How much did you accomplish?” but rather, “Were you faithful with what I gave you?”

We should therefore stop comparing our lives with others. God has given each of us different responsibilities and opportunities. Our responsibility is to faithfully use what He has placed in our hands.

The Christian Goal Is to Hear Christ’s Approval

Perhaps the greatest words a Christian could ever hear are the words Jesus spoke in the parable of the talents:

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21

That is the approval that ultimately matters.

The world may never applaud our faithfulness. People may overlook our sacrifices. Our work may sometimes seem small or insignificant. But Christ sees everything.

One day, we will stand before Him. At that moment, earthly fame will mean nothing. What will matter is whether we were faithful to our Lord.

Reflection

Ask yourself:

  • Am I more concerned about being noticed or being faithful?
  • Am I faithfully using the time, abilities, and opportunities God has given me?
  • If I stood before Christ today, would I desire to hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”?

Prayer

Lord, help me not to seek fame, recognition, or the praise of people. Teach me to be faithful with everything You have entrusted to me. Help me to serve You faithfully whether others notice or not. May my greatest desire be to hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
